It’s already the 5th of March (!!!) Howww??
This month started off with me going a little stir-crazy cooped up in the house because of the snow. It did make me draw a lot though, so I shouldn’t complain. There’s already another iPhone wallpaper on its way, and I managed to get a regular monthly illustration job, so things are looking up in Megland!
I suppose I have a couple of “goals/things I want to do” for March:
1. Release Paintboxfox’s first zine
2. Get the ear piercings I’ve been thinking about getting for months
3. Start work on my portfolio website
Through the snow and cold, somehow my monstera has produced 4 new leaves from where they were chopped off (due to an accident involving my cat a few months ago). Yay Mildred!
I’ve finished all my drawings for the zine, and am partaking in #marchmeetthemaker on instagram – if you are taking part too, let me know!
And I’ve had my first successful charity shop rummage in a while – green marble coasters. It feels like everything in my life right now is telling me I’m a fan of green…
I can’t believe we’re already pretty much halfway through February…
The first week or so was spent finishing up an illustration commission and hanging out with my little shadow:
We also visited Nymans Gardens & Brighton over the weekend. We go to Lucky Beach for breakfast almost every time and it never fails so disappoint:
Also, yep, I’ve changed the name of this blog. I’m in the middle of designing my portfolio website and wanted to separate this out a bit. Nothings final in terms of platform yet, but the name definitely is!
Some moments from the past week.
Next week is the end of my month of daily photos. I’ve enjoyed it, so I think I might just carry on… but instead of doing weekly blog posts, I’ll make one a month with my favourites.
Right now, in this dark grey weather, bed is my happy place. I mean, it kind of usually is, but especially this month. Probably not the healthiest of statements, but we bought a new bed & beside tables recently and I’ve just wanted to spend all of my time in there!
I always think bedside tables are so personal, and give you a tiny insight of the owners personality. Take mine for example – constantly littered with books, notebooks, hand cream, lip balm & jewellery. Whereas Harrys is an oasis of calm – simply a glass of water on a coaster. I don’t know how he does it, but he’s definitely this minimal in general life, too.
Is anyone else’s bedside table as cluttered as their mind?
Can you tell it’s really dark in Suffolk right now? Feeling very lethargic at the moment and am boiling down to not having enough sunlight. I think my lethargy is probably showing through in my photos. There’s just no inspiration around right now!
On a more positive note, I’ve picked up my laptop and am getting back in to learning web design again, I’ve got two illustration commissions to complete and I’ve just bought myself a weekly planner to get my bum in gear. I tried using a bullet journal last year and found I just got too caught up in trying to make it look pretty, rather than actually completing anything on my to do lists. I do still love the concept of them, but for me a planner/diary with pre set out pages is the way to go! If anyone has any tips on how to keep on track when it comes to aspirations for the year, please say hello!
A throwback to warmer days – take me back to Dunwich beach in August…
This month I’m trying to take a photo a day and use the “panoramic”/multiple photo option on my instagram. These are from the first week (the first two are in my last post). I have to say though, I’m already getting tired of the multiple photo thing. I think it can look really interesting if done every now and again, but every day is a bit… boring?
My aim is to follow a monthly themed daily photo challenge on instagram for as many months as I can, with weekly updates here on the blog.
What kinds of monthly themes would you like to see?
